HelpCaster is expanding its internship program, which has been piloted with a number of overseas students over the last few years. The program is open to students who are in their final year or have just graduated from a 4 or 5-year program. It offers qualified candidates the opportunity to gain business and technical experience in their field as well as add a Canadian employment reference to their resume.

HelpCaster has an opening for an IT internship in Applications Development. Details are described below.

The candidate will participate in the development of new modules and the maintenance or improvements of existing modules of our LiveReach suite of web interactivity applications. Development requires familiarity with Java in an environment using Red Hat Linux ES4, Oracle 10g database, and Oracle 10g Fusion middle ware. Some developments use other databases such as MySQL and Postgress. Knowledge of VoIP concepts and SIP protocols is a plus and would enable involvement in VoIP related development work.

Canadian based students who are interested must be citizen or permanent residents of Canada or have a valid student visa.

Foreign students can apply directly to HelpCaster but must obtain the appropriate student visa or work permit by applying through an affiliate program such as their national IAESTE organization, youth exchange programs in effect between Canada and their country or other local student exchange organizations such as Praktikum.de.

The HelpCaster Internship Program (HIP) is an unpaid internship but provides the following.

A stipend of C$800 per month

Monthly public transportation (TTC) pass for the Greater Toronto Area

Accessible location at the heart of downtown Toronto (the TD Canada Trust Tower at BCE Place)

Pleasant work environment (employee cyber cafe with all amenities)

Performance bonus at the end of the internship for those who excel

The minimum duration of an internship is 20 weeks. Maximum duration can be up to 52 weeks. HelpCaster may at its sole discretion offer an intern full time employment at the end of the internship.
